Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: My ferret Nina does not have long
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I can only tell you what my personal experience was and with my
Schuster, who was my first but not last passing ferret. I was told by
my vet that if he whimper his paid is way too much and then I would
have to decide. He had cancer and never was put on pain meds and even
though she felt he would pass within three days to three weeks he
lived on for over four and a half weeks. He was such a laid back
ferret from day one that it took me forever to figure out he was sick.
So my suggestion is if she is doing well let her go a natural death
like my Schuster did. I allowed all the other five ferrets to sniff
him after he passed so they would know maybe why he was no longer with
them. I know at first Simon, my oldest missed him but within a few
weeks he got returned to his old ways. I was scared I did wrong by him
since he whimpered on Monday, June 24th 2008, but he passed sometime
between 4:00 AM and 8:30 Am June 26th. I hope this helps you with
your decision with Nina.
