Subject: [ferrethealth] Boo Boo update : IBD and Ulcer
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone...

Just updating on Boo Boo. He has a re-check this afternoon, and I will see
about getting pics or copies of x rays. Not sure how, but I'll ask. But
last night I didn't give him Pepto, and it had been several hours since he
had any, quite a few. Someone on the list mentioned that maybe the
yogurt/acidophilus (sp) was what had normalized his poops. But... without
the pepto, Boo Boo's poop is back to that orange, mucousy stuff, no
substance at all.

Vet said to wait to put him on the pepcid until after his re-check today,
but I do wonder if Pepcid is the right thing to normalize his poops? I know
it helps with acid indigestion, but the diarrhea is really, really bad
without the Pepto. He fights so hard against taking the Pepto anyway, and
I'm thinking that the last few doses he did get wasn't very much. He spits
most of it out, shakes his head (he's REALLY strong and even scruffed he can
do this).

So... still need advice as to what to do about that. He still grinds his
teeth when he eats, but he's not stopped doing that since the first round
with ulcers.. about two and a half years now.

Suggestions? :/

Ella

[It sounds like your vet wants him clean of other meds
because it will be better for seeing what effect happens
to better assess the situation, and that can be very
important at times. -- Mod]
