Aaron, at that age while a disease cause is still possible
you have to look first at seasonal shedding. In the South
some people start seeing that pretty early. Mike Janke
used to often mention it in full swing by March in Miami.
Individuals vary in timing, We are in NJ and ours will vary
as to who is in full swing for shedding by as long as a
month.

Now, it IS possible to accidently create a situation that
feels like the onset of Spring for a ferret by having the
ferret wind up with an increase in light exposure. Since
these ferrets just came to you that may be a possibility.
Ferrets need a decent bit of darkness (the best is to have
it possible for them to get into darkness (not just
dimness) for about 14 hours in each 24. So, you need
to have plenty of places where the ferrets can get away
from light. If the old place had that but you don't that
could cause the fur loss due to the ferret's pineal gland
producing less melatonin.

So, time for a check-up but do let the vet know how much
light exposure the ferrets are getting now and how much
they got before (if you can find that info).
