Subject: Addison's disease after one gland is removed Re: [ferrethealth] Digest
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Thank you for correcting this! I was misinformed and glad to be
corrected, I will pass this information on to the source, a
veterinary professional.

Tressie

[Note from one of the moderators:
One of our ferrets, Hjalmar, was actually
one of the first ferrets to ever use Florinef
(and that point the generic, Fludrocort,
was not available) and he went in hours
from actively dying to being okay. This
was a great many years ago. He was one
of those individuals who had an adrenal
left but in his case it did not bounce back
sufficiently.

Note, too, that if Lysodren (which is usually
avoided for ferret adrenal disease) is used
then atrophy of adrenal glands can happen.
