Hi, Ella,

When my ferret Adric tested positive for giardia all our ferrets (eight
at the time) had to be treated. From what I understand all the animals
in a household will have to be treated, including dogs. Giardia can be
spread by contact with contaminated stool or from contaminated water.
If animals share (or could potentially share) a litter pan or a water
bowl there is no way to prevent one from passing it to another.
Ferrets can often have a bit of excrement on their feet from standing in
a litter pan.

You can do the best job of cleaning in the world and it still won't
guarantee that the parasite can't go from one animal to another.

Sorry, but all your animals need to be treated.

The usual disclaimer applies: I am not a vet, just a somewhat
experience ferret owner who has had to deal with what you are dealing
with.

All the best,
Caity and the terrific trio
(Ella, Zephyr, and Chin Soon)
