Is there anything we can do to help him when he is having one of his
'episodes' of scrunching his whole neck up and sticking his head out?
I wish we could just give him a muscle relaxant or something.

**Unfortunately, if something is stuck, it has to come out. Occasionally
gentle massage in an upright position will allow him to swallow, but usually it
will have to be regurgitated. Muscle weakness is one of the problems that
causes this, so a muscle relaxant would be a bad idea.**

Also, do you know any way that he can be in the main cage at night
with all the other ferrets, but not eat the kibble? Any tricks I can
devise?

**The only trick is to remove the kibble - and yes, this would include any
pieces that the other ferrets have stashed during the day. So probably not a
really good idea.**

How will I know if he is managing ok...he hasn't aspired so far and is
on Clavamox and Baytril. Also I think we are switching him off
Prednisolone to Diazoxide...Prednisolone to Diazoxide.

**Aspiration pneumonia - look for heavy breathing, increased effort and rate
to breathing, shallow breaths, gasping, coughing, fever. Diazoxide can be
used in insulinoma, but usually as an adjunct to pred, not in place of.
Personally, I have not seen it control insulinoma by itself.**
