Subject: [ferrethealth] Sick ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

OK, a while ago I suspected my ferret had insulinoma. After several
exams and vet appointments, we had no dx. The vet I liked the most
said she didn't think it's insulinoma.

My ferret was back to normal (she is almost 5, spayed, from Marshall
farms - adopted when she was 3 year - she was a mommy there).

So usually I give her a treat at bedtime and we race upstairs to see
who gets there first. The day before yesterday she did it. Yesterday
she went up on step at the time, almost as she was in pain. She could
not climb to the 2nd floor of her cage (she didn't like the little
ramp, so I took it out and she would climb it, as she did the day
before yesterday).

She is walking with her body closer to the floor and is much less
active. She is eating quite well, well hydrated. Is defecating and
urinating normally.

I palpated her abdomen and her spleen is enlarged (well, it's always
been a bit, and her vet said it's normal). But now it feels really hard.

My hubby is dropping her at the vet tomorrow, as I will be at work
really early and leave really late. But I'd like to know if anybody
has seems anything similar...

I really appreciate any input.

Thanks a lot,
