Well, now I am concerned that what I am seeing in my ferret Ianto (I
posted about him a day or so ago) might perhaps be the early signs of
megaesophagus. I have two questions that I haven't been able to
answer through my reading.

1. When the symptoms of megaesophagus first manifest, are they
consistent after every feeding? Would a ferret developing mega-e try
to expel food every time he or she eats, or does it start as an
occasional irritant that increases in frequency? Would the throat
ever spasm when there is no food present? (ok I guess that was three
questions in one, but the basic question is, what are the earliest signs)

2. Is the condition visible on x-rays, or would an ultrasound be
required? Ianto had full x-rays a month or so ago, after the behavior
that I have interpreted as an insulinoma-linked seizure started. If
he had or were developing mega-e, would we see it on the x-rays?

Regards,

Regina
