Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Sick ferret (insulinoma)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Nina's not doing well. She is really weak and now I can really see the
insulinoma signs. It's amazing how she went from a normal ferret to a
very lethargic one in 24h... Because we won't be able to go for
surgery until next week, we decided to start her on prednisolone. She
is on 0.25mg/day (divided into 2 doses).

I want to know based on your experience:

1) How long does does it take to the drug start kicking in?

2)Is this dose too low to begin with?

3)What is the maximum dose that can be used? (I know you have to
increase it within time)

4)Anybody wants to share your experience with surgery? How long (if)
was your ferret free of symptoms.

Thank you sooo much!

Rita
