Hi Rita,=A0 I had a similar situation where my vet advised an ultrasound al=
so.=A0 I was hesitant also becuz of the price, about $300.=A0 My boy Gus, h=
ad diarrhea that we could not find out the cause and fix for a few months.=
=A0 My vet suggested the ultrasound, which I did go ahead and do.=A0 On it,=
they found enlarged lymphnodes, 'spots' on his spleen, and something else =
that I dont recall right now, that led the vet to believe we are dealing w/=
lymphoma.=A0 Becuz of this, he advised doing an exploratory surgery, which=
he did do, and confirmed by biopsy it was lymphoma.=A0 Without doing this =
US, I doubt I wouldve opted for exploratory, and thus still not know what w=
e were dealing with... but anyways, it was very useful tool in helping us f=
igure out what was going on.=A0
=A0
I also had a female, diagnosed w/ lymphoma, and the vet also believed it sp=
read into her spine.=A0 She also had lost the use of her back legs, and bla=
dder/bowel movements.=A0
=A0
I'm not sure if it was you or someone else mentioned in a different case, b=
ut it was mentioned that an aspirate was done and came back negative.=A0 Th=
e #1 reason why my vet doesnt do any (or rather advises me against) doing a=
ny aspirates, is, becuz he has said too many times the results come back ne=
gative, when it is actually positive (of whatever) becuz you can actually v=
isualize the area that needs to be biopsied, rather than guessing thru an u=
ltrasound.
=A0
The only other thing that jumped out at me, is that you mention your ferret=
was on Pred for a few days.=A0 If it is lymphoma, and you started her on P=
red and then stopped it, the lymphoma is coming back probably harder on her=
(although I dont know if only a few days would make a difference).=A0
=A0
If you have tried other things, and still not getting an answer, and you tr=
ust this vet, the US could end up helping you out.
