Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Can a ferret catch Feline Corona Virus from a cat ?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>
Gina,
I have a kitty that is FIV+.
I am told by my two ferret vets and a cat veterinary specialist the ferrets are NOT at risk of catching this.
In fact, even our other cat is at little risk as FIV is passed on through a deep puncture bite only.
Buddy, the FIV+ cat is very sweet, so he is integrated as just another family pet.
Is your vet recommending euthanasia because of the FIV?
If your interested, please contact me off list. I can direct you to a wonderful FIV+ cat forum that is very supportive.
Ardith
[Moderator's Note:
I guess what has to be found out is if the cat
has FIP which is a coronavirus or instead has
FIV which is a Lentivirus.]
