I am not sure about "if there is ANY danger at all involved"
Even a microchip I suppose could have compications, but unlikely. In other words, there will be no guarantees or any way to say they will 'definitely be ok'

I have never had a problem with the rabies vaccine in my ferrets- I get them done at 6month then a booster the following year. Then every 2 years ( even though it says yearly, I don't want to over vaccinate).

Could potentially a reaction occur first time, I suppose it could.and I doubt it would be anything severe.
Is it likely? no.

Hope that helps, and hope you have a great trip.

Patty
ps. IF you have a ferret that is a severe reactor to distemper vaccine, or very ill- on medications, very old, etc. See if they will allow a vet to say it is contraindicated to vaccine that ferret- however, in that case they may say you have to either allow for the 6 month quarantine so you may want to find someone to watch that ferret/s.

Is it right that ferrets will only have adverse reactions (obviously not necessarily) to a vaccination if they had the vaccination before? Or, in other words, will they definitely be okay when they get a vaccination for the first time?

I'm in the UK and am looking into taking the ferrets to Germany with me when I go there to visit family. Which means they would need to be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies so that they can re-enter the UK via the pet travel scheme without the need for a 6 month quarantine. But if there is any danger at all involved with giving the rabies vaccination then I'll have to look at other options...
