Not being a weasel expert, by any stretch of the imagination, I would hazard to say that your baby is 4.5 yrs old. Thats pretty much middle age for a ferret. Mine used to have the run of the house as well, and they would also stop dead in their tracks and just plop down for a power nap. As for the diarrehea (trots), it could be something as simple as diet. There are things that ferrets love to munch on, but arent necessarily compatible to their digestive systems. For instance, raisins. as far as I know all ferts love raisins, but because they are pure carnivores, they cant digest veggie matter. The vet told me that besides the obvious digestive tract problems, raisins can cause renal failure in ferrets. Again, I lost my big boy thud in november due to multiple tumors affecting his major organs, and mainly due to the fact that I didnt know what to look for and by the time he went into a sharp decline, it was too late. But with my wee Sashaa, I am doing my very best to
keep her healthy and watching for any warning signs of problems.
My advice is to have a vet give him a good checkup. If there is a medical problem, best hopes are that it can be corrected, and if nothing is wrong, then you have the satisfaction of knowing that you did right by your baby.

I was wondering if anyone would know whats wrong with my ferret.

been doing good until now .
the last 5 days or so..when he would get out to run around the house.
he doesn't go far then he would just stop and lay there . then go little bit more and lay there again...he never did that before.
He would run around every where...now he getting the diarrhea.
please let me know what could be wrong...
