Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Sick kit Ferret; several weeks; swellings
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

He had his first set and I think his second round but no rabies yet. He had been eating on a plant that was near his cage we noticed when he had a piece of it in his mouth the other night so we wonder if that has contributed. he is awake more now than he has been in a couple weeks.

[Moderator:
If you did not provide the second distemper
vaccine and got this ferret from a store then
the chances are there will not have been
anything past the first vaccine.

Please, check for the plant here:
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/17-common-poisonous-plants.html
and getting past the most common causes of poisoning
to pets from plants, also check here:
http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/plants/

There are two Animal Poison Control locations in the
US; both associated with the ASPCA, This one and
Angell Memorial which can be looked up in the archives.

When a possible poisoning may have occurred it always
pays to use them, despite the cost, or have the vet do
so. Also, remove all questionable plants, and if an
incident occurs take the plant, or at least a good section
of it to the vet to be looked up.]
