I have to weigh in here, so forgive my intrusion gentle readers.

Distilled water in mixes, etc. is acceptable, but never, ever, give distilled water as a primary fluid for everyday (or sick) thirst satisfaction. The lack of minerals prevents the body's 'sensors' to register a 'satisfaction of thirst' so that the ferret (Or any animal!) will just continue to drink, without stopping. Water poisoning then becomes a real threat. (And yes, water poisoning, aka: Hyper hydration and water intoxification, is a real malady...see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication , and http://www.erowid.org/culture/health/health_water_poisoning.shtml Note in the second article that animals are mentioned as well)

and independent source that I could find
on either side of the arguments about
distilled water was this but I had little
time to look and didn't even have time
