Subject: [ferrethealth] Not Absorbing Nutrients

What would the vets recommend for a ferret who is not absorbing nutrients, and is not gaining weight? I took in a little girl about five weeks ago. She was extremely thin and still is. Despite multiple daily hand feedings, she has only gained 2 oz. The male who came in with her has gained a lb. in the same length of time. This ferret is not just thin naturally. They were both basically starving to death.
She has had a 14 day course of Albon and Pet Tinic (Pet Tabs). She has been syringe-fed high calorie soup.
My vet started her on pred to see if it would help. She had blood drawn today but we won't get the results until tomorrow.
Any suggestions?
