We have not, even after 5 years had any flea trouble (knock on wood), I treat with Frontline, the small cat size. My 3 girls split one tube between them, and my two hobs share a tube. I also wait and only use it once every 1 1/2 mos. <

I have to ask the obvious. If you don't have a flea problem why are you treating your ferrets at all? If you are keeping fleas off of your dog, the ferrets shouldn't have fleas. I have four inside dogs, who go out to do their business and hang out in the fenced back yard. They are all treated with Frontline Plus monthly, year-round (I'm in Florida). I have never put any flea treatment on my ferrets. There are no fleas to treat. The dogs don't get them so there's nothing to bring inside.

So, rather than the small dose working, it may be that there is nothing there anyway.

I don't like chemicals on my pets. They have had no issues so far. I figure a 1 1/2 pound ferret getting a 9 pound cat dosage just seems too much for their little bodies to have to take. Even splitting the tube in 3, if you're going by weight, they are getting twice the dose they should if my math is correct. My vet had no arguement when I posed this thought to her, but I'm not sure that other vets would agree.
