Well, that seems to be sound thinking, but not really. A flea doesn't actually get killed until it bites and fleas can even be brought in inadvertently by us on the cuff of a pant leg. I have cats that I treat also even though they do not go outside. I had a problem pre-ferrets and dog where my indoor cats got fleas and we found that because they like to sit in open windows, it's possibly why they contracted them.fleas can jump incredible distances. don't assume just because your animals are indoors, they are safe from anything.

I have to ask the obvious. If you don't have a flea problem why are you treating your ferrets at all? If you are keeping fleas off of your dog, the ferrets shouldn't have fleas. I have four inside dogs, who go out to do their business and hang out in the fenced back yard. They are all treated with Frontline Plus monthly, year-round (I'm in Florida). I have never put any flea treatment on my ferrets. There are no fleas to treat. The dogs don't get them so there's nothing to bring inside.
So, rather than the small dose working, it may be that there is nothing there anyway.
