Subject: [ferrethealth] Reasons that a ferret will scream
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Okay, I have lived with ferrets for 15 years and I have only ever heard a ferret scream once and it was because she was startled. since then I have only heard gutteral stress noises. Well last night at 1:00 am LittleBear gave me the scare of my life. It seemed like he was screaming for 5 minutes. He then when into a sort of stupor, peed himself and then fell asleep with me in bed. Today he seems fine. He is on prednisone 1/4 tab 2x a day, carafate, emu oil and I make sure he gets supplement ferret gravy or chicken baby food twice a day. He is non surgical, has a bad heart, tumors on his pancreas and adrenal glands, but he has been stable with these issus for well over a year. He is 6 and a half...anyway, he is not acting like he is in pain and my vet thinks he might have had a nightmare. she says it has happened to her ferrets many times...I was just curious if anyone had any other ideas. thanks Kathleen
