I can't find anything mentioning using Pred for hyocalcemia,
but it IS used for hypercalcemia (too high a blood calcium
level) according to:
http://marvistavet.com/html/body_hypercalcemia.html
which says
Quote
When it comes to hypercalcemia, prednisone enables the
kidney to dump extra calcium and potentially bring
dangerously elevated calcium levels down to normal.
End Quote

Hopefully, more info will be forthcoming.
