Subject: [ferrethealth] Merlin
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Merlin came to me in a trio surrendered one month ago. He was lethargic,
and I soon discovered he had black diarrhea. His brother, Harry, had
explosive green diarrhea a couple of days after I got them. We treated both
with Carafate, Amoxi, and Metronidisole. Harry fought the treatment every
inch of the way and gradually improved during the 2 weeks of treatment, but
Merlin became less and less willing to eat finally becoming unwilling to
swallow anything, so I took him to the vet. The vet has gotten him to the
point that he will eat if hand fed, but shows no interest in eating on his
own and not a lot more interest in moving around. He has us stumped! He
had one good day last Wednesday, and then he went back to acting like a
stuffed ferret despite all the tests coming back normal. Does anyone have
any idea what else we can try?

Betty
