Hi Betty,

If he checks out physically then it must be behaviourial. Possibilities:

- shelter shock
- grief
- depression

You mention three were surrendered. What happened to the third? Is he still part of the group? If not, this could be why Merlin is depressed. Or he could be grieving the loss of his human family.

In cases of shelter shock, depression and grief, he is going to need loads of TLC and extra one-on-one time to regain his joie de vivre - his will to live. Running a shelter means you may not have the extra time to give him. Do you have a volunteer who can devote the extra time he needs right now?
