Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: thinking about types of adrenal growths that don't behave like adrenal growt
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
It's been going on long enough that
a malignancy is unlikely, though there
are certainly slow forms in any species.
It isn't just that Lupron makes no
difference. She is worse with
Lupron.
Remember, too, that despite the
ultrasound showing what looks
like an enlarged adrenal her TN
Panels consistently did not agree.
So, it may be something elsewhere,
perhaps even an isolated pyometra
caused by a cervical remnant, or it
might be that she responds in a
wrong way to Lupron (though that
would not cover the TN Panel just
not meshing), or it might be a form
of adrenal neoplasia which does not
trigger the cortical hormone response
seen with normal adrenal growths.
Heck, maybe she even has a combo of
things going on producing the weirdness.
Eventually, we will know, but I am curious
about types of adrenal growths besides
teratomas that don't tend to produce
the typical adrenal hormonal responses.
Lymphoma and carcinoma in the adrenal
tend to fit in with other adrenal growths
on that score, so currently I know of only
that one with abnormal hormonal profiles
for ferret adrenal growths.
