Subject: [ferrethealth] Insulinoma behavior
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi!
I've had ferrets for many, many years, and luckily, only have had 4 adrenal ferrets, including the older male I have now.? We've been maintaining him on very little medication, and sometimes a little (pure)maple syrup, to bring him around. Today, for some reason, he seemed like was going to have an insulinoma type seizure, where he just goes down, does the drooling, etc., but he just seemed agitated, doing a walk-run about the house, and acting like he's blind. Could there be a sudden loss of vision with older (8?yrs.)?insulinoma ferrets?? This behavior is something I haven't noticed before in a ferret with insulinoma.? Maybe his vision loss, if that is what it is, is causing him to be agitated.? I was planning on getting him to my vet tomorrow for checking his blood glucose, but if anyone has any other comments/suggestions, I'd appreciate the feedback.? Thanks!

Phyllis

[Moderator's question:
are you confusing adrenal with insulinoma in the
first two sentences, or does he have both?

List members can tell you how to treat both
illnesses because both do need treatment,
please.]
