Subject: [ferrethealth] Dosage for Panacur (Fenbendazole)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I am trying to make sure I was given the correct dosage for my little guy Scooter. We just found out the dogs have whip and hook worm. Scooter has had really bad diarrhea and I have tried everything; so when I found out the dogs had these two worms I felt it would be best to try treating Scooter too for worms. This vet that gave me the panacur is not my regular vet for the ferrets. She told me to give him 1 cc/ml once a day for three days. I feel this is too much.

If there are any vets or knowledgeable ferret people out there who could confirm this dosage. It can be found in the Book "Ferrets Rabbits and Rodents Clinical Medicine and Surgery 2nd Edition" on page 439. I believe that it is stating that you should give 20 mg/kg by mouth once for 5 days. Scooter is about 1.6 lbs .

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Missy
