Subject: [ferrethealth] re: Washing feeding/medicine syringes
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I hand wash mine in hot soapy water with the following technique -
pull up hot soapy water in syringe, push plunger back in to push the
soapy water out - I do this 3 times or more depending on medication
then I pull the plunger part all the way out and hold the syringe under
hot running water to rinse, watching the water squirting out the tip
until I'm sure all soapy water is rinsed out, then I rinse the plunger,
shake both well to air dry, then either slide the plunger back in and
place in the draining rack or individually.

The O ring syringes are a bit more stubborn to come apart but they do
with a little swiveling.

I've not had any responses that they are tasting previous meds or soap
(though some ferrets like soap so I'm not sure they'd let me know!).
