I always rinse right away and then soak them in a bowl of hot water with dishsoap. Then a few hours later I come and rinse them. The only issue with this is making sure you don't rub off the markings on the outside. A syringe without markings is - well, useless!

Sometimes you can give a ferret water and they'll give you a "why!" look. Don't worry too much about it. :)
