Subject: [ferrethealth] distemper titer results

Four of our six ferrets had titers done as part of the study that Dr.
Heller is doing on canine distemper vaccines. I think that all 4
actually were vaccinated at the same time 2 years and 2 months before
these blood draws with the same vaccine batch but have to check that
the next time we are at the vet hospital in about a week and half.
Their titer levels wound up very individualized.
By age:
Hilbert (6 years) 192
Whizbang (turning 6 years, soon to have a birthday) 384
Morney (5 years) 768
Hubble (4 years) 32
Hubble is the youngest of those 4 and the one with no health
problems, but he is also the one who obviously needs to be
revaccinated to be protected. It will be interesting to see if the
individuals who are high stay high and if Hubble becomes low again and
in what time frame.
The other three will not be vaccinated for canine distemper this year
unless we get a major local outbreak.
