Subject: [ferrethealth] Heart issues - heart block
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I have check some of the archives on this but I have one question.
My little girl Kailee (4 years) has been diagnosed with 2nd to 3rd degree heart block.
Heart rate was around 70. An ECG and xrays were done. Heart slightly enlarged.
We stared her on Theophylline (.12 twice/day), lasix (.2 once/day) and benazapril(.2 once/day).
She started to improve pretty quickly.
Heart rate up to 146 within 3 days but it caused her heart to beat so erratically.
I consulted with the vet and he said to reduce the Theophylline to .1 twice a day.
She was good then for about 3 days then all of a sudden her heart rate dropped to 90.
My vet is out of town and the substitute vet is not ferret knowledgeable.
I did put her back up to .12 (twice/day) on the Theophylline. Her heart is up to 100 now
Anyone here have any thoughts on why her heart rate dropped so dramatically.

Thanks Lori
