Subject: [ferrethealth] Adrenal Ferrets and Excessive Grooming
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My Emma is adrenal. I bought her at a flea market knowing she was adrenal. I talked the lady down from 80 to 30 dollars. Her over all health at the time was not good. She had no hair loss but a hugely swollen vulva. She had her first lupron shot (2mg) a month ago. Her vulva is now normal, however she still has the excessive grooming. So much so that she has ceased doing ferrety things...... dancing, roaming and investigating, and getting into genneral trouble..... all she thinks about is grooming the next person or animal that comes near. My legs are tore up from the nipping and biting. She will get herself so worked up that she starts swallowing air, gasping and even vomiting. I have an appointment for her to get an implant. Do you think the implant will help curb the behavior? and how soon? Am I not giving the lupron enough time? I am having to keep her in a seperate cage and monitor her with the other ferrets because of the obsessive grooming. Any input would be helpful. I
have dealt with adrenal males and all the male traits ......and my Lielah had some excessive grooming issues at first, but this is just really really out there.
