It's not luck, a single dose of pred is metabolised in approx 8 hrs.
Dividing the daily dose by three and giving at 8 hr intervals results in a smoother overall delivery and less peaks and troughs in glucose.
I know that people sometimes cannot do this because of work hrs but even a 8/10/6 split is better than 12/12.
