Hi Deb,
I am using oral melatonin daily for 3 ferrets in combination with Lupron for 2. One had his right adrenal removed last year and never regrew his fur until I started the melatonin so am keeping him on it.
I give 1mg daily of liquid oral melatonin to each of them.
I don't think of it as something to take a break from as much as something that is a critical part of medically managing their adrenal disease and therefore, would not stop giving it.
Fortunately, my vet is in the process of ordering Deslorelin and I will be switching from Lupron to Deslorelin but will keep them on the melatonin just the same.
