Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Melatonin

Hi Deb,=A0 I think you are asking about melatonin as a preventative for adr=
enal, is that correct?=A0 If so, I used to give my ferrets 1 mg of the oral=
pill between 6 to 8 hours after sunrise.=A0 I would microwave a little of =
their Bob's Gravy, put the pill on a spoon and add a drop or two of water s=
o it dissolves, and then after the Gravy is cooled, add the dissolved melat=
onin pill.=A0

Just to add though, I did this with my female, and she still ended up devel=
oping adrenal disease.=A0 I read of some people having success w/ it, or ac=
tually some say the melatonin implant was better than the oral version.=A0 =
I did this w/ my ferrets everyday (occassionally missing a day), but like I=
said, she still developed the disease.
