Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Distemper Vaccine and Lupron Shot
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A ferret can have a reaction to the vaccine at any time, even after yrs
of success with no reactions. I had two that never reacted negatively
and at about 5 yrs old took them both for their usual vaccines and not
one but both reacted!!! Since then my other ferrets even with
benadryl, before have reacted. In my opinion this sets them up for health
issues later on,at least it did for mine, thus one of my reasons for not
vaccinating any more. I've been a ferret mom for over 18 yrs,and I am
fully aware of risks here so please don't bash me! I live alone so my
ferret is not exposed to other animals or people,I even change clothes
when handling him. I also drive 2 hrs for for milk, and give him raw milk
and colostrum to build his immune system. This is my first no vaccine
ferret, except what was given when he was a baby. I'm praying he
continues to thrive, and not get the sicknesses all my past ferrets came
down with. My feeding is a little different as well,a mix of 3 high
quality ferret foods with regular human meats like chicken ect.,on a
daily basis. I would love to feed raw,but haven't been able to get there
with him,he won't eat it. Funny but he loves sardines! Peanut is a
little over 7 months old now,and my fingers are crossed!! Deb
