My 4 year-old Sampson, who was initially a rescue has had numerous health issues since he arrived, including insulinoma, splenectomy, which included a fairly large benign tumor, etc. He went off his dry kibble about 7 months ago after a long bout where he had allergic reactions to a pain med and antibiotic he was on.

He won't eat dry food at all. I give him Innova EVO soaked in water and mushed up, plus canned Innove EVO 95% Duck and some 100% pumpkin mixed together into a 'duck soup'. And that is what he eats. A vet recently told me that there is no reason that they have to eat dry kibble. It does not keep their teeth any more clean than a wet diet. Sooooooooooo.... if he's happy with the 'duck' soup, and its nutritionally sound I don't see a problem with feeding him the wet food.
