Subject: [ferrethealth] Lethargy without a cause
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Has he recently lost a cagemate?=A0 Or a human companion?=A0 Anything chang=
ed for him?

If he was on the sucralfate for ulcers (black tarry stools), stopping that =
too soon can be a bad idea.=A0 Not sure on all the other meds, but sucralfa=
te I think is likely to do the least damage to him if he is on it and doesn=
t really need to be on it.=A0 Like if he doesnt really have ulcers, it wont=
do him any harm if he does take that med.=A0

Not sure if your vet told you, but the sulcrafate is suppossed to be given =
(I guess the consensus disagrees w/ an exact time frame), but my vet said a=
bout an hour prior to the other meds.=A0 And Pred is suppossed to be given =
w/ food.=A0

Have you thought about getting a second opinion from another vet?=A0

I wrote earlier about Reznor. We still have no idea the cause of his sympto=
ms. He's still really lethargic, gaining weight, not eating much. All the t=
esting and diagnostics have come back negative. We started ending the the m=
edications one by one last week. (Current meds being: Sucralfate, Pepcid, a=
zathioprine, prednisone, Vitamin B complex) He was given Lupron and a ferre=
tonin implant. We stopped the sucralfate and he immediately began eating ev=
en less and became even more lethargic.
