Eating less while on Prednisone is usually an indicator of gastritis
or an ulcer. The pepcid helps with this -- and is why when you
stopped it he got worse. He is on Pred for what reason? -- sorry I
do not recall the early post ....
What was the testing for?
Be aware also that pred can cause high blood pressure which will
make the ferret lethargic, it can also cause renal illness /
failure which will make the ferret more lethargic. In my honest
opinion you need the vet to evaluate him to rule out renal issues,
high blood pressure, liver failure all of which can be present in a
ferret on pred.
ALSO it is MOST important the ferret not be given pred on an empty
stomach. Your ferret need to have food before pred. Otherwise the
pred and stomach acids can ulcerate the stomach wall leading to
possible bleeds outs and death.
I wish there was a gentler way to state these facts. In any case
please consult your vet on the causes above and I send wishes for a
speedy recovery.
