Subject: [ferrethealth] bald spot on base of the tail
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi! my male ferret, Merlin, who is only 4 years old, is showing a bald spot=
on the end of his back, right at the base of the tail. On the tail, he is=
not bald, but the hair is very thin. He had rat tail all his life... it w=
ent away with washing treatment, but periodically it comes back on again. =
Right now all my ferrets (I own 6) are shedding very, very heavily.
Merlin had this bald spot for 1 month now. The baldness does not grow nor i=
t affects other body parts. The bald spot measures around 1 cm. in diameter=
and it is full of tiny red dots. The vet gave him a treatment for 15 days=
, with Borage Oil, to see if it got better. He is still the same way: hair =
did not grow back, but the baldness did not grow either.=20
We don=B4t see any other symthoms: he is active and playful as usual, eats =
well, pees and poops ok.
I don=B4t want him to de adrenal.... please, any advice???
Thanks in advance,
Luciana
