Subject: [ferrethealth] Is surgery right?

We still can't figure out what is wrong with Reznor. He's been taking buprenorphine (0.1-0.2 mL every 8-12 hours) since yesterday with little to no change. I've lost 2 ferrets unexpectedly during/right after surgery in the past. It was with different doctors, but it's left me extremely nervous about surgery.
What have been your experiences with surgeries? How risky is it really? Am I the odd man out or is it normal for surgery to be so risky with ferrets? I just can't decide what to do.
