Subject: [ferrethealth] Need help with IBD
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret Willy has very severe IBD. He also has insulinoma and he's on 1.2 mL of prednisolone twice a day, and it's a 5 mg/5 ml suspension. For the IBD, he's on 0.12 ml of azathioprine once a day, and that's a 4 mg/ml suspension. The azathioprine is not helping at all really, and we can't make the dose higher because he was at a higher dose and had a little low white blood cell count. I've tried pumpkin and that doesn't seem to help and I've tried slippery elm which helps a little but I don't want to use it too often since it hinders the absorption of medication after so long. I'm at loss of what to do. He's going back to the vet soon anyway but I figured I'd ask on here too because my vet isn't very "open minded." I don't think I missed any important info so if anyone has an idea please let me know.

Kelsey
