If you have other animals, dogs, cats that get outside distemper shots are very important. You can even track distemper into your house. Also if one of your fuzzies ever bit someone it is important to have the documentation that they have been immunized.
You do not want to watch an animal die from distemper - I have seen it and it is not pleasant.
