Many vets run all of these tests through Antech or a similar lab, so their "middleman" fee is added on. You should discuss this with your vet, and ask that the sample be sent directly to UT. If you provide the information, they should be willing to do that.

I have not had the UT panel run on any of my ferrets in many years. Adrenal disease has such obvious symptoms, the test has not been necessary. I call and discuss with my vet, and then set up surgery. In all cases, I have been correct. For those not symptomatic, I would have no reason to test unless it is to rule out adrenal disease. I feel the money is better spent on treatment.

I'm sure that others will disagree, but it works for me.
