Subject: [ferrethealth] Female Ferret belly is flabby, is she in heat?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Harlow is just about a year old now, she was spayed when we got her however I'm wondering if they possibly missed something during the surgery, it's happened to one of my dogs and they just so happened to forget an ovary. I just noticed this last night when I gave her a bath and I didn't notice it during the week when handling her but it is possible it was there since I wasn't inspecting her during play. Her abdomen has increased in size and is jiggly to touch, there isn't a mass or anything and her hind quarters aren't inflamed that I can tell. This newly acquired flub extends from her back legs to just about where the penis on a male would be. She is in the cage with a neutered male so I don't suspect any mating took place. She's playing as normal, eating and drinking just fine, no behavioral changes just the physical. Is it possible she's just filling out, she has grown overall and has lots of new hair. She doesn't react to stimulation of the area and I know they hav
e a high tolerance for pain but she doesn't seem to be uncomfortable. Any ideas?
