I'd say a change in energy level either way could be a symptom. My male was much less energetic, while my female was wired as you describe. Both of their energy levels normalized again after surgeries.

While we're on the top of noticing early adrenal symptoms, I think it helps to note that a change in the texture of the coat (brittle, dry, etc), not just loss of it, can be an early sign. I wish that I had known that the first time around :)
