The more obvious behavioral signs are sexual aggression (ie; mounting, hump=
ing), marking (actually urinating and/or simply dragging aka "sliming"), ex=
cessive grooming (licking, biting/nibbling....of themselves and/or other fe=
rrets as well as people), aggression (which can manifest as outright attack=
ing of others, both ferret and human, or simply overly aggressive play). Wi=
th mine, I've also noted a change in their disposition, prior to any of the=
above. It's not something I think I can can explain all that well. They se=
em "distant", as if their mind is preoccupied, and they tend to interact di=
fferently with both myself and my other ferrets. There's just something "of=
f", a difference in their personalities. I doubt it's something I would tak=
e note of in a ferret I was not familiar with but in those that I know well=
I have spotted it.
