Thanks everyone for your replies. Thanks for suggesting the prednisolone, Jeff. I'll bring it up with our vet at the next visit. Merry is getting small, high protein meals (ground chicken with bones, hearts and liver) every 3-4 hours before we leave for work and when we're home in the evening. He has EVO kibbles in the cage during the day while we're at work. My worries is that the silly booger will sleep through his hypoglycemic stretch instead of getting up and eat.

M and N - did you vet say why he why he switched from pred to Azium (which I believe is the trade name for dexamethesone)? I hope Merry can stay on pred too. The silly boy actually likes the taste of pred. I don't mind the costs of diazoxide as long as it works, and it seems to have done wonders for your ferret. If you have access to a compounding pharmacy, I think you can get diazoxide cheaper by having it compounded from the pill (instead of the commercial suspension from the manufacturer). It's worth looking into.
