Here is a link to a veterinary opthamologist (FHL rules prohibit me from giving his name) who saw my two fuzzbutts last summer - both have juvenile cataracts. He comes to Nova Scotia every summer for vacation but practices out of Florida:

Although this description doesn't mention he sees ferrets, he assured me that he has a number of ferret patients. Perhaps your vet could consult with him.
