Hi, Dawn, and everyone else,
If you are introducing new food as Sukie suggested I take it you know
to mix the new food in with the old gradually to avoid upset tummies.
Some years back the food which we were using at the recommendation of
our vet had a recall. Most batches produced at that time turned out
to be rancid. Luckily we had a 30 lb. bag which wasn't on the recall
list and was OK to eat. We were advised at that time to feed our
ferrets a mixture of high quality foods. That way if one wasn't
available the rest of the mix still would be. It was good advice.
Well... one popular brand of food was a no go. Our ferrets would dig
out all the food from the bowl, choose the food they like, and left
the one they didn't like. We tried different high quality foods until
we found ones our ferrets liked. That's how we developed our current
mix :) Your boycott is simply because different ferrets like
different foods.
One thing that might help. The Wal-Mart food is made by 8-in-1. They
do make a high quality food as well that you could try. (Yes, that's
the one our original ferrets hated but my current group likes it.)
Nowadays there are at least six or eight food brands in North America
that have acceptable nutritional value. There will be some your
ferrets will eat.
Good luck!
Caity and the terrific trio
