Judy,

Is there any difference in color or odor of the urine? Any chance you would let him potty on a puppy pad, newspaper, or even a hard floor - this way you can see and smell it better? Have you had a urinalysis done? I would be concerned about possible kidney problems or urinary infection perhaps.

As far as not eating, you need to make sure he has sufficient nutrition each day. Not sure if you feed any kind of soup/gravy but it may be a good time to try. Mush kibble, meat baby food, just something nutritional for that little guy is very important. Once they start losing weight they can go downhill very quickly.

My current boy rarely drinks but it is okay because his food is wet and he has sufficient fluid intake there. As long as he is not dehydrated, you are probably ok with him not actually drinking if he gets it through wet foods.

Adrenal tumors can cause urinary blockage and difficulty urinating. That would mean the full bladder that feels more firm. Have you seen him go in the box and NOT urinate? Any chance your guy is adrenal?

I'm certainly not an expert on this, but have been through kidney (renal) failure, UTI's and urinary blockages. If you can get him to potty outside the litter box you can evaluate color, smell, amount... I would suggest checking out the urine, have a urinalysis done.

Best of luck,
Melissa
