I would question whether your vet is dealing directly with the U of Tenn and also if the appropriate panel is being run. As you can see at the link below, the U of Tenn charges $65.00 for the "ferret" adrenal panel.

Note that there are a variety of adrenal panels that can be run, the highest priced being the Dog panel at $155.00.

I would also wonder if perhaps some vets don't request the wrong panel, which could also explain why some seem to get false results.

As for how quickly results are obtained, one to two weeks is the timeline here as well. I believe this is because the panel is run only once weekly.
